Custom scale for each traffic sign while inserting them
When inserting traffic signs into the Autosign program, it is crucial to understand the correct usage of scale. This tutorial will demonstrate how to adjust and properly utilize the scale for inserted traffic signs.
Changing the Scale When Inserting a New Traffic Signs
When we insert a traffic sign into the drawing using the "Traffic signs" command, by default, in Civil 3D and BricsCAD, the scale is set to 1:1000.
*If you can't find the Annotation Scale, click on the icon with three lines at the bottom right, and then check the box next to Annotation Scale:
If you then, for example, change the Annotation Scale to 1:100 and insert a traffic sign into the drawing, it will be significantly larger in size. |

Make a custom scale for all newly inserted traffic signs
As a second option you can adjust defult traffic signs scale directly in *xml file.
This will scale all the traffic signs when inserting (except if you had same signs definitions in your existing drawing before you changed this).
- In File Explorer go to C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\CGSA\YOUR VERSION and locate AS3D_TS_Settings.xml
- Open it (xml or text editor) and edit the SignScaleFactor tag, change this value to the one that suits you
- Save this file.
After doing this every inserted sign will be scaled.
Changing the Scale of an Existing Traffic Sign in the Drawing
If you want to resize the existing traffic sign, you need to do this with the "Edit" command. In this case, we will now change the size of the large traffic sign to match the smaller one that we drew to a scale of 1:1000.
1. Run the "Edit" command. | |
2. Then select the traffic sign, and a dialogue box will open. 3. In the list on the left, you will see posts and traffic sign boards. First, select the board, then change Scale X and Scale Y to 1. |
|
4. Then repeat the same process for the post.
5. After that, press OK and the scale will be changed:
Effect of Scale on the Actual Size of Signs
If we change Scale X and Scale Y in the Sign Manager dialog box, it only affects the display of the traffic sign in the layout and not in the report or when rendering the 3D model.
If we want to increase the actual size of the traffic sign so that it will also be larger in 3D, we need to change the value of Dimension in the dialog box.
